How did Hitler maintain control for almost 10 years?
In 1934 Hitler became the leader of the German state. In 1938 he became the commander-in-chief of armed forces. In 1942 He became the commander-in-chief of the army.
He had the Gestapo who were the German secret police who would spy and arrest the enemies.
He also had the Schutzstaffel also known as the S.S. This was Hitler's personal army that was known to be an elite force. In order to become part of the SS you needed proof of pure Aryan ancestry for at least 150 years, minimum height of 5 feet 11 inches and they needed to be physically fit and in excellent health.
The S.S ran the concentration camps- this controlled the people a great amount because citizens were afraid of being arrested.
Terror- filled citizens with terror through the S.S and the Gestapo.
Propaganda- Used Posters and Publicity to make it seem like the Aryan race was all powerful and all knowing
