Political Prison Camps- These were concentration camps with 150,000 to 200,000 prisoners. In these camps there is forced labor, beatings, torture and even execution.
Internment Camps- These camps are made for people who are accused of political offences. These camps are located in central or Northeastern North Korea. They are usually located in secluded mountain valley's so they are excluded from the outside world. The total number of prisoners is 150,000 to 200,000. Today there are a total of 6 of these camps in North Korea. Prisoners in these camps are forced to do hard and dangerous slave work involving mining and agriculture. The food rations are very small. Malnutrition is a common cause of prisoners dying. Prisoners who work slowly or do not obey orders are beaten or tortured. If attempt at an escape or the act of stealing food, they will be publicly executed.
